Open Ideas Young Newton Innovation Award 2026

Overview

The Open Ideas Young Newton Innovation Award is a recognition program by the Open Ideas platform that celebrates creativity, problem-solving, and innovation among young students aged up to 17 years in India.

Participants are invited to identify and refine innovative ideas addressing real-world problems by selecting structured problem statements from the Open Ideas Lab platform.

The competition focuses on ideas that are thoughtfully developed and clearly articulated to a stage where they are ready for future design, prototyping, or implementation.

Key Requirements 

  • All submissions must be based on problem statements available on the Open Ideas Lab platform

  • Students may freely choose any challenge listed on the platform

  • Submissions must be original and submitted only through the official Open Ideas platform

  • The competition is strictly an individual participation competition; team submissions are not permitted

  • Submitted ideas should demonstrate clear thinking, originality, feasibility, and readiness for future development or implementation

 Timeline

  • Submission Deadline: 30 June 2026

  • Evaluation Period: July 2026

  • Results Announcement: 18 August 2026

Student Recognition (Top 3 Ideas)

Each selected idea will receive:

  • Each student recognition package is valued at ₹10,000 equivalent benefits

  • Open Ideas Young Newton Innovation Certificate

  • Featured showcase on the Open Ideas platform

  • Detailed jury feedback report

 

Selection Policy (Important)

  • The jury may select up to 3 winning ideas

  • Selection of all 3 winners is not mandatory

  • If submissions do not meet required standards of originality or impact, the jury reserves the right to:

    • select fewer than 3 winners, or

    • not declare any winner

  • All jury decisions will be final and binding

Evaluation Criteria

Submissions will be evaluated based on:

  • Relevance to the selected problem statement

  • Completeness

  • Originality and creativity

  • Practical feasibility

  • Clarity and maturity of the idea

  • Social impact

  • Quality of explanation and presentation

Eligibility

  • Open to young students in India aged up to 17 years

  • Participation is individual only

  • All submissions must be based on Open Ideas Lab problem statements
